Zガンダム序盤のジャブロー攻撃作戦の前に登場。Zガンダム開始時の連邦軍の標準モビルスーツとしてハイザックが使われていたが、その後継として設計、生産された。
装甲にはガンダムと同様にガンダリウム合金を使われたため、堅牢なだけでなく製造価格も高くなった。
パイロットとしてティターンズのジェリドやカクリコンが搭乗。
ガンダムMkIIを奪われた2人がアーガマを追う途中でマラサイを得て、エウーゴの地球降下作戦の妨害のために出撃するも高度が下がったためモビルルーツでの降下となる。
Zガンダムではモビルスーツの効果にバリュートという降下用の耐熱摩擦装備が搭乗し、マラサイもこれを使うが、ガンダムMkII打倒に燃えたカクリコンのバリュートは破裂したためにマラサイもろともカクリコンは大気圏で燃えてしまった。

Using Gundarium for the armor makes mobile suits robust and expensive to manufacture.
Jerid and Kakurikon of Titans are pilots of Marasai.
The two who are robbed of Gundam MkII got Marasai on the way to chase Argama and set out to interfere with Eugo’s Earth descent operation. However the altitude dropped, so they need to fall with mobile suits.
In Z Gundam, Marasai uses Valuet, which is a heat-resistant friction equipment for mobile suits.
As Valuet explodes, Kakurikon and Marasai burn in the atmosphere.
